Bucharest is located in the south-eastern part of Romania and the climate is continental. Located in Europe, there are 4 seasons: winter for Christmas and summer in june-august.
Any time is good to visit Bucharest. The city its full of life in the winter time when there are a lot of indoor events and crazy nightlife. The temperature is average low −5 °C (23 °F) in January. Mountains and skiing is at only 150 km away from Bucharest. NYE is not fantastic in town, but the best clubs are full and you need reservation with at least 1 month before. Centrul Vechi is welcoming everyone. For Christmas there is also a nice Xmas market in Universitatii square.
In spring the bars open their terraces, the parks are full, the number of concerts are getting higher so this is also a great time to come. The temperature is around 15 °C to 25 °C ( 59 °F to 77 °F) with some rain now and then. If you are here around 1st of May, the town will be almost empty for few days. All clubs are moving to the Black sea (some 200 km away) to Mamaia or Vama Veche for 1st of May festival, one of the best in Europe (usualy over 50.000 people attending the 3 days party marathon).
In the summer time the city its not so busy since a lot of Bucharest residents are in holidays, but you can still have a lot of fun in Centrul Vechi or the clubs in Herastrau Park by the lake. Summers are generally very warm to hot, with average in Bucharest around 29 °C (84.2 °F), and usually over 30-35 °C (95 °F). Head for one of the swimming pools or the sea for a swim. Mountains are cooler too.
In autumn the city starts to be busy again. Everybody is back from holidays, schools start mid September and universities at 1st of October. The city is reborn. You can choose to spend your time in so many ways… from going to concerts, cultural events, walks in parks witch are unbelievable beautiful, fashion shows etc. One of the world largest classical music festival “The George Enescu International Competition” is taking place in Bucharest in September, get tickets in advance.
