When talking about going out, Bucharest has two completely faces. One is very fancy and posh and the other one is artistic, eclectic, lets say an underground face.
So, if you want to spend your time in creative, alternative places, here’s where you should be:
Control is top on my list of “clubs for people who do not like to be like all the people”. A very hip place where there is always something going on. It oppens in the afternoon, the place has a big terrace which is open since spring until late autumn. A DJ or live music will play in one of the two rooms every weekend.
Constantin Mille Street, No.4
Acuarella is an artsy bistro, bar, terrace and art gallery. A relaxed hub where you can meet over a coffee the coolest and creative people in the city. The design is eclectic with cool refurbished old furniture.
Polona Street, No.40
Plastilina is a bar, tearoom, bistro but most importantly, a playground for artist. The hopuse build in 1983 has two areas now. On one hand is the actual house that is used by the Cultural Association impetus for cultural projects like theater or music and on the other hand the cafe and the terrace. The menu is very different from what you can find somewhere else. The sweets and juices are the ones we used to have in the communist times.
Olari Street, No.8
Gradina Eden, musicians, designers, bloggers and hipster of all ages gather every evening at the hot spot of the moment: the Garden of Eden. Tucked away from the world in the backyard of the Stirbei Palace. The garden is big and wild, a real jungle in the city. Wooden furniture ranges between new and old, beautifully refurbished and painted. In the evening, when you are looking for a wild terraces in which to meet all hipstes of the capital, the urban Garden of Eden is to the place to go.

Dianei 4 is a vintage bar and terrace in Bucharest, vere the hippies like to meet. The music during the day is not to laud because it is situated in the center of the city.

Gradina Verona is located on a perpendicular street of Magheru Boulevard. It’s basically a gorgeous terrace of Carturesti Library. You will find a bohemian atmosphere, the garden is amazing, with lots of plants and trees, hammocks and wood tables and chairs. They have a number of vegan and vegetarian options but sometimes it is fish or any type of meat. The dogs are welcome. Bikes too.
Pictor Arthur Verona Street, No. 13-15
Bicicleta bar, another cool bar in Centru Vechi ( Old Town).The concept was born from a passion for old bikes. Vintage British bikes of the 40s and the last remnants of the factory became Pegasus handmade furniture. The vibe is friendly with music from, ranging from Soul, Electro, Disco to Funk, Jazz, Broken Beat or Indie.
