Books and libraries in Bucharest

Bucharest is a city of books. There are many libraries and kiosks from where you can buy books but for the latest releases, special albums, technical books, E-books, English books or music you have to go the the best libraries in town. Here are my top five spots.

Carturesti Verona

Carturesti Verona

Carturesti Verona, a place with a fairytale atmosphere. It is more than a library, it became an institution for cultural events, a great place where to find original gift ideas, shelves full of books, good music, flavored teas and always an impeccable service. If you are in Bucharest, Carturesti is one of the places you have to visit.

Libraria Bastilia, opened in an historic monument building, this library is similar to Carturesti library, a book concept store. Downstairs area is for universal literature and children’s books. There are some accessories for tea cups and tea kettles. The first floor is for books from various fields, plus another area for literature. On the second floor you will find a coffee shop and a reading room which is also used for book launches, concerts, etc.

Libraria Dalles

Libraria Dallesis one of the oldest libraries in Bucharest. You can find albums on various topics, books by famous Romanian and foreign authors. They have a fairly large section of books written in English. Unfortunately, there is no reading room so you have to browse the books standing.
