The time when you should head to the coast!
Bucharest is the city of music, culture and festivals except for the 1st of May. On the first of May everything moves to the seaside for four crazy day&night non stop party.
There are two seaside resorts to choose from. One is Mamaia ( the cool, fancy seaside resort) and Vama Veche, (the Hippie, Rock- Punk Seaside Resort) .
Mamaia host the biggest club parties and music festivals in that period. The hip clubs like Frattelli, Loft and Crazy Beach are packed so you have to be an old client to be lucky to get in.
If you’re into electronic music then you have two music festivals where music doesn’t stop for 3 days or 4 days.
Sunwaves is becoming one of the biggest music festivals of Spring in Europe. People gather from all over the world to listen and feel the magic near the sea and the waves. The festival leaves everybody feeling like a family. The artists invited are coming with their latest beats, inspired from worldwide dance floors, which will keep you moving from Friday night till the last sound on Monday. There are four stages where artists like Ricardo Villalobos, Marco Carola, Rhadoo, Richie Hawtin, DJ Sneak or Dubfire feel like home at this festival.
The Mission is the rival or the complementary festival of Sunwaves. If Sunwaves goes for more minimal sound, The Mission goes for an electro-house sound. The four days festival has an headliner for each day. The three stages with names like Luciano from Vagabundos, Carl Cox, Used + Abused, with Loco Dice are just a few of the names that will make you dance till you can’t move no more.
Vama Veche resort is the last resort towards the border with Bulgaria. It used to be the hippie resort without hotels, restaurants and bars where people used to go to be free on the beach, play the guitar and sunbath naked. These days the resort is a mixture of that old feeling, people still sunbath naked, go camping and play the guitar but all in a more organized way. In the last ten years, a lot of hotels, restaurants and clubs were opened. Some say this was a good thing, some that the spirit of the place has been damaged.
Anyway, if you go for Vama Veche, here are the party spots I would suggest:
Expirat, this open air club has a young vibe, all types of music, lots of shots and people dancing on the tables. This Expirat Clubin a few words.
Amphora, a beach by day, a dance floor by night. Lots of pop rock music, really good cocktails and people determined to have a blast.
Molotov it seems that everybody knows everybody. And if they don’t they will untill sunrise. The music is a mixture of oldies but goldies, the rhythms goes through funk, rock, alternative and reggae and it doesn’t stop.
Stuf is one of the oldest beach clubs in Vama Veche. A lot of old rockers will rock your night away so be prepared for cheap drinks, loud music and a lot of craziness.
